Asha for Education
Education lays the solid base for the children’s overall development. Access to elementary education is one of the basic rights of the children. Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 have the provision of free and compulsory education for all the children falling in the age of 06 to 14 years. Despite having the provisions under the RTE Act, access to education for all the children is still a distant goal. For example-children residing in remotely situated villages or geographically challenging areas where there is less or insufficient means of living, belonging to poor socio-economic status families and limited scope of earning livelihood for a whole year.
Gramya Sansthan runs the Educational Centers called ‘Chirag Kendra’ for such children to ensure the elementary education upto class 8th in different villages of Naugarh and Chakiya blocks of Chandauli district. The project is supported by Asha for Education, Chicago Chapter. As per the enrollment record of all the centers, there are nearly 500 numbers of children of poor socio-economic status families attaining school education across the villages.
